As part of the development momentum in Es-Semara Province and the official celebrations marking the 27th anniversary of Throne Day, Governor Ibrahim Boutoumilat inaugurated and launched three strategic development projects in the commune of Amgala.
The ceremony was attended by elected officials, heads of external departments, local authorities, civilian and military officials, as well as tribal leaders and notables from the Saharan provinces.
The program began with the inauguration of a geode processing unit, funded through the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) under its program to improve income and promote the economic inclusion of young people. The project, which required an investment of nearly MAD 942,000, aims to add value to Amgala’s natural resources, transforming them into a driver of local economic development.

The facility is dedicated to processing geodes, known for their geological and ornamental value, in a modern production space operated by the Oum Chkak Cooperative. The project is expected to strengthen the production chain, improve product quality, and create new marketing opportunities both nationally and internationally.
It is also anticipated to generate direct and indirect employment while providing sustainable income opportunities for young people and women involved in the cooperative. This aligns with the INDH’s objectives to support income-generating projects and promote the economic inclusion of targeted groups.
The second stop on the program marked the launch of operations at the Amgala administrative district headquarters following the completion of renovation and upgrade works.
The project included the rehabilitation of the administrative building, the modernization of its technical networks, the strengthening of its digital infrastructure, and the installation of new office furniture and equipment. These upgrades aim to meet the standards of modern public administration and improve services provided to citizens.
According to local authorities, the project is part of broader efforts to modernize territorial administration, improve working conditions for public employees, and provide workspaces that enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This will also ensure faster processing of citizens’ administrative requests and reinforce the principles of proximity and good governance.
The program also included the inauguration of the renovated headquarters of the Amgala Territorial Commune. This project involved the refurbishment of administrative offices, meeting and reception rooms, as well as the installation of new equipment to improve working conditions and enhance the quality of municipal services.
Financed through the commune’s budget at a cost of approximately MAD 787,000, the project is expected to benefit more than 4,100 residents by bringing public services closer to citizens and improving access to administrative procedures.
These projects are part of a broader vision to modernize administrative infrastructure, improve the attractiveness of the area, and create a more favorable environment for investment. They also aim to better utilize local natural resources through productive projects capable of generating wealth and employment, thereby supporting the province’s economic and social development.
By combining productive investment with the modernization of local administration, these projects reflect the provincial authorities’ commitment to implementing development programs with a direct impact on citizens’ daily lives. This is achieved through stronger territorial governance, better public services, and support for local economic initiatives, in line with the Royal Guidelines aimed at achieving balanced and sustainable development across the Kingdom and reinforcing the attractiveness of the Southern Provinces as a promising destination for investment and development.
