With 57 pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and medicines marketed in more than 40 countries, Morocco still has significant untapped production capacity, with its industrial base operating at around 50% of capacity. Exports, clinical research, co-manufacturing with Europe and African pharmaceutical sovereignty are among the priorities highlighted by Layla Laassel Sentissi, Director General of the Moroccan Federation of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Innovation (FMIIP), as she outlines the sector’s development strategy under the leadership of Dr. Yasmine Lahlou Filali, president of the federation. She discusses the drivers needed to turn this potential into a continental strategy.
